Remember the Gillette commercial "the best a man can get?" That's coopers landing - always good. Always reliable. So the Craig & Avery? At $12.99, a scoop of fresh, very lightly mayoed crab meat in between a butter toasted hamburger roll - yep. Hamburger bun - toasted - mighty fine. Accompanied by a side of cole slaw. Victor burger deluxe ($12.99) - named after the uncle of one of the original owners - is a half pound angus patty - topped with lettuce, tomato, 'merican cheese, and cool whip - sandwiched between to halves of a sourdough hamburger bun. It's a well worth it burger - not seasoned much but juicy and beefy. A lobster roll ($15.99) is dusted in mayo in a Butter grilled hot dog roll. Claw, knuckle and tail meat falling out of the top of the bun. The Bonnie Mac ($8.99) is a bowl of crisp french fries with thick, meaty, succulent, fried crisp-on-the-outside-tender-on-the-inside chicken strips. Mouth salivates. BLTs arrive with thick cut strips of bacon held in between toasted little urchin hearty wheat bread. Excellent. Beer, bottled soda, iced tea, an assortment of side dishes from kale chips to french fries are available. Gifford's ice cream available around the corner. Place your order at the window, pay, and have a seat. It will be busy. It won't be fast. When you hear your name, foods up.

The food here was awesome and interesting, even the veggie burger, but quite pricey. Things were a little slow but the quality of the food and menu options makes up for it.

Let's get real here. You're on North Haven Maine in the summer. (Lucky you! Jealous me.) It's lunch time. You're in town. Your servants forgot to pack your lunch for your trip to The Gift Shop. What's a Boston Brahmin to do? Duh. The same thing we all do - rain or shine - Coop's, baby! Personally I'm usually torn between a couple Zizzles (flat top grilled hot dogs on toasted split-top buns) or the *Island Famous* Victor Burger (that's pronounced "Victah-Burgah"). Add some fries and you're ready to rock'n'roll 04853 style. (god, how I dream of those hot dogs when I'm not here.) Today I changed it up and asked for a Zizz' with their vegetable slaw on it (sort of a riff on a Carolina Slaw Dog). Gotta say I got some strange and confused looks from the employees. I also gotta say that it tasted pretty damn good. Give it a try! The menu features items named after the fishing and lobstering fleet. If you don't know what a Mistress is, get in your row boat dinghy and paddle around the thoroughfare for a bit... Hot dogs and Hamburgers not what you're hankering for? The menu has a little somethin' for everyone - Burgers, dogs, cold sandwiches, lobster, crab, fish, tofu (dogs don'ctha know - blech!)... and the requisite deep fried items... If you can't find something to eat here, you really should be heading up the hill to Nebo Lodge waving your AmEx Centurian card. Ordering is at the middle window... Pick up your food from the window on the left when your named is blasted over the speakers. Gather your tray and place yourself at one of the umbrella'd picnic tables (I sit here rain or shine). Those of you weaker souls may choose to nosh at one of the few indoor tables. Sometimes service can be a little slow when they're really busy - I suspect either there's just no more room on the grills or the cook-line is struggling with preparing multiple orders in parallel. Whatever, we're here on vacation, there's no hurry, is there? (unless of course that 12:15 ferry is about to leave and you're supposed to be on it!) In the mood for ice cream? Well they have that too... Head over to the window on the far right and order a Gifford's somethin'-somethin'. Also attached to Cooper's is Roman's Fish Market and the Urchin Bakery - Check out other reviews for those. In all seriousness, I've been eating dogs and burgers from the shacks of various sizes, and quality, at this general location since I was a kid. I've always been glad there was easy, fun food here in the village. Sure, there's Nebo Lodge when I'm hankering for a steak and wine dinner, and there's been other spots around town in the past too. Tho, for me, Cooper's Landing is where I go to renew that kid memory of heading down to the shack with my little brother and a few dollars from Dad to get a couple hot dogs and Cokes for "dinnah".

Stopped in to North Haven while cruising around the bay. It was around lunch time and we were getting hungry. Coopers Landing is just up from the dock. They welcomed us and or dog and we sat at a picnic table on the deck. They brought water for the dog. The menu has some great choices. I had a burger and my wife had a turkey sandwich. They were both fantastic. As good a burger as I had ever had. maybe it was just the day and the setting. But this was one of the best lunches we have had on the bay. It will definitely be a destination next year. We even met some famous people while we were there. Can't wait to get back.

The bean burger was delicious, along with the clam chowder. Expect to wait for a while seeing as it is the only restaurant on the island. The flies are terrible out on the deck, how about some citronella candles!?!
